ENTERING DISTRICTS - NDT Eligibility & Declaration
Step 1: Letter of Good Standing

The NDT rules require that all students attending districts be in good standing (see below). Proof of good standing must be submitted by the start of the NDT Committee meeting on February 8. There are three ways in which to submit the documents proving eligibility:

1. Fax to Dallas Perkins. The number is 617-876-1360

2. Mail to Dallas Perkins, 324 Franklin Street, Cambridge, MA 02139

3. Hand-delivery to me or Dallas before the NDT committee meeting at Northwestern. The NDT committee meeting will be held during rounds 2&3.

Step 2: Declaration of Intention to Enter Districts

You have to declare your specific teams for the D3 tournament by 5pm on Tuesday (Feb 12), and you declare by entering them into the qualifier division on Tabroom.com. If you plan to submit a 3rd team for the NDT second round process, they MUST be entered online, and the district ranking vote will determine which team will compete at districts and which will be treated as the “C team.”

Dates for Pre-Rankings
Once the district registration is completed by 5pm on Tuesday, Feb. 12, each program is requested to rank all attending teams. These rankings determine the pre-set rounds, but also determine which team will actually compete for schools submitting three teams. Thus, rankings are due by noon on Wednesday, February 20.

ENTERING MAC

Entries will be done on Tabroom.com. Please try to enter early so we can get an accurate head count. The deadline to enter is 5PM, Tuesday, February 12.

Judge Requirements and Placement:

For the district qualifying tournament:

Each team competing requires 6 rounds of judging commitment. Each judge/coach is required by the Constitution to be entered for at least 3 rounds. All judges must meet NDT judge requirements (see the standing rules link below) and must have philosophies entered on debate results. All judges and philosophies should be entered by 5pm on Tuesday, Feb. 14.

For the Mid America Championship:

Each team requires 3 rounds of judging. Judges are expected to stay one round past their team’s elimination from the tournament.

All divisions will use mutually preferred judging; however, judges will be placed first in the District Qualifying Tournament. All judges are expected to fill their commitment; those judges who are difficult to place in the qualifying division will be placed in the MAC, even if the school doesn’t have teams in that tournament.

Tentative Schedule

For the District Qualifier: We will be employing a 2-4-2 format, enhancing our flexibility should runoffs become necessary.

For the MAC: There will be six preliminary debate (2 Friday and 4 Saturday) and 2 elimination rounds in each division.
