SHIRLEY SCOUTING:

Main Scouting Contact: Justin Green

Main Scouting Email: Shirleyscout@gmail.com

We aim to provide a community-wide update to the Wiki in order to enhance everyone's Shirley experience.  Please take a moment to read/forward to members of your team.

Prior to the tournament

At a bare minimum, we aim for each team's Aff page to include:
1. Anything that has previously been said in the 1AC at ANY tournament by that team.  (Separate advantages need separate tags)
2. 2ACs to Off Case positions
3. Any add-on's

We aim for each team's Neg page to include: ANY off case position run by this team this year and any offensive argument that might appear on the case (i.e. this team impact turns Heg most debates or K's Reps of Hunger).

Bottom Line: Any pre-round disclosure of an old argument should have something online for a team to look at.

Three Modifications to Look For

1. Argument Previews - NOT JUST SPEECH DOCS! -  The Wake team will be sorting through speech docs into tabs that can be clearly viewed as separate arguments.  See MSU HR as an example for the Neg disclosure we aim to provide.
2. A TAB "2NRs at Wake and Prior" Will appear.  If you are like our squad and hate answering this question before the debate, our aim is to allow teams to answer this question prior to arrival in the room.
3. A TAB "Aff tricks to be aware of" will also appear.  (i.e. Team loves to go for Condo Bad)

During the Tournament:

1. Expect a Wake Scout to come by and ask for anything read in the debate.  Feel free to give them a jump drive or to email.
2. Judges feel free to send flows - even if they do not have citations - knowing what arguments were read can help a team better prepare.  A Wake debater will then place these on the wiki.

Words of Caution/Re-Assurance

1. ZERO full text evidence will be put up by Wake debaters.   Any full-text a Wake scout receives will be immediately be converted to citations.

2. No school/team will be left behind the curve prior to the start of the tournament.

3. Our scouts have been told to take an extremely active role.  The "I will put it up later" assurance will be given zero credibility.

4. Paper Scouting Sheets will no longer exist.  For those who would like to communicate information to a scout but do not have a computer, a scout will be available at each building to take dictated advice.

5. All Wake Teams will have their wiki pages represent what we would like.

How can Each Help?

1. Judges - Send us your flows - we will upload
2. Debaters update your own pages and please be responsive to any requests from Wake debaters/coaches.  We will cover 272 pages any lighter load is appreciated.
3. Coaches and Debaters - Update the wiki's of opponents.  Frustrated that a team beat you on wipeout? Let the world know that's what they plan to go for.

Looking forward to increasing everyone's information sharing before a debate so that higher quality debates can occur at all levels.
