Tournament Format

The tournament will consist of 5 preliminary rounds in each division. The number of elimination rounds will be determined by the number of entries. In the past, we have cleared to octofinals in Novice and either octofinals or quarterfinals in Junior Varsity.  There will be two judges in each novice round and one judge in each junior varsity round.

The tournament reserves the right to shift judges between divisions for tournament efficiency.

Rounds will follow the standard 8 minute constructive, 3 minute cross-examination, and 5 minute rebuttal format. There will be 8 minutes of preparation time for each debate.

The tournament will use the 2019-2020 NFHS policy debate resolution.
