Things That Are Super-Important To Your Hosts

Please read this stuff.

We try very hard to be the best hosts possible and to make your experience one of the best tournament experiences you will have during the year. We would appreciate your assistance by adhering to campus and tournament policies below.

Smoking Policy

Not in Buildings (This isn’t the 80s)

UMW does not allow smoking (including vaping/e-cigarettes) in any building.

Not Near Entrances (This isn’t the 90s)

Do NOT smoke on the porches/entryways of the buildings. Please move away from the entrances.

Don’t Start Fires (Nothing About This Is Funny)

Also, please *extinguish* and dispose of cigarettes in one of the available receptacles.

Regarding Our Use of Rooms

YOU NEED TO KNOW

Do not use rooms that are not on the pairing. If it is not on the pairing, we likely don't have access to it, or there is a class scheduled to use it. Please check with Adrienne before using a room not on the pairing. This also includes departmental office lobby areas (the ones are the ends of each floor in Combs).

Combs 139 is an open common room.

Please dispose of all food trash in the large trash cans in the hallways, not in the rooms or restrooms.

Tech/Furniture

Please do not move accessible/ADA desks, chairs, etc. Those need to remain in their proper locations for the students that use them in class next week.

Do not remove furniture or items from rooms.

Do not use/touch any technology in rooms Please do not place drinks or food on the technology consoles in any room.

Audio/Music

Please do not play audio/music in public spaces. When in rooms, volume needs to be kept *very* low, as there are classes in the building during the weekend, and several adjacent office spaces which have asked us to keep volumes levels down.

What If I Am Hungry?

Location

Hospitality and meals will be available in Combs and Monroe.

If you are in Trinkle, please go to Monroe for meals & snacks.

Please dispose of all food trash in the large trash cans in the hallways, not in the rooms or restrooms. (Seriously, why do we even find food in restrooms?!?!)

Schedule

Friday – Pizza available toward end of round 1. Please grab as soon as you are done with 2AR in round 1. Please dispose of trash in large hallway trash cans. No one wants to walk into a room smelling like pizza Saturday morning.

Saturday - Tournament hotel has complimentary breakfast. Light snacks and coffee available throughout the day, UMW’s finest Sodexo box lunches served starting during end of round 3. Again, please use large hallway trash cans (as opposed to stacking up them up like some sad food waste Jenga tower near the classroom door).

Sunday – Tournament hotel has complimentary breakfast. Light snacks and coffee available throughout the day. Since everyone has to stay through two elims thanks to obligation rules, everyone gets a box lunch! Once again though, please use the large hallway trash cans [and please don’t leave stray box lunch trash hidden in the back of the Combs auditorium, or on the nearest surface when a pairing comes out, or on the stairs (?!?!)].

Has a ton of things – too many to name. Odds are good they have it – see list in left filter panel under “Dining” here - https://www.shopatcentralpark.com/directory/

Optimally, identify place you are looking for before you leave and map it – this place is too big to wander around aimlessly.
