Judging

Judges in all divisions are expected to act as responsible educators during the tournament, especially when interacting with students.

Judges should feel comfortable with intervening in or stopping a debate in which someone engages in conduct that would reasonably result in disciplinary action, or be stopped by a teacher, in an ordinary high school classroom setting. 

All judges should have an up-to-date judging philosophy posted at  www.tabroom.com

Some hired judging will be available at the rate of $40 per round, but with multiple debate events occurring on the same weekend, judging may be tight -- please secure your judging early and let us know of any additional qualified judges who may be available for hire to others or through the tournament. 

Please check in with us about your hired judging needs by November 4, 2019.

Every judge is committed for one round beyond the school’s elimination from the tournament.  We may seek to hire highly preferred judges to judge past their school's commitment.
