Extemp Topic Areas

The November tournament will use the following topic areas in Extemp:

Global “Hot Spots”
Political Cartoons*
Science, Technology, and Culture
US Elections (2018-2020)

Note that while one topic area will be used in each round, the topic areas are not necessarily listed in order. These subjects are intentionally broad, and some questions may be tangential to the plain-language topic.

*Contestants will be prompted to compose and answer their own question based on the media provided.
