Kansas Championship Series

2019 — Wichita/Wichita East HS, KS/US

Inaugural DCI Round Robin

Information regarding the DCI Round Robin will be provided directly from Tim Ellis, Washburn Rural High School, and Brian Box, Blue Valley North High School.

Competitors selected for the round robin will be voted on by the coaches in the community throughout the season. Competition in the round robin will be by invite only, based on those results. The top 12 teams, with a maximum of two from each school, will debate a round robin format in two different pods. The winner of Pod A will debate the runner-up of Pod B in a semifinal, and vice-versa on the other side of the bracket. In the event that two members of a pod debate in finals, sides will be locked.

Each team that is invited will be required to bring one qualified judge, with ample debate experience, capable of adjudicating a collegiate-style debate. The judges will be reviewed by the round robin committee, and in the event that the judges do not meet experiential requirements, the invited school will be contacted. In the event that a team cannot supply an appropriate judge, the school will either have to hire a judge that meets requirements or forfeit their invitation.

Results of the preliminary debates within the pods will NOT be announced following the debates. All preliminary results, as well as ballots with thorough reasons for decision will be released to debaters following the conclusion of preliminary debates. Judges will be given some time off following debates to make sure that they can write full ballots with meaningful feedback for competitors.

In the event that you have any questions regarding the round robin, please do not hesitate to contact the tournament directors, Brian Box and Tim Ellis.

THE SPECIFIC SCHEDULE FOR THE DCI ROUND ROBIN WILL BE POSTED HERE BY MID-DECEMBER.
