You are cordially invited to The Meadows School’s Invitational Tournament, October 26th – 28th, 2018. We will provide competition in Varsity Policy and Lincoln Douglas debate on the 2018 Immigration Policy topic and the Sept/Oct 2018 LD topic.

There is no entry deadline – we will accept entrants until we are full. Registration will open on Monday, August 20^th at 12:00 Noon, PST. Fees will be frozen on Oct 22^th; entries that drop after that time will still be obligated to pay entry fees. We can accommodate up to approximately 54 teams and 76 LDers.  Entry will be through the Tabroom.com site. Hired judge requests must be sent to timalderete@yahoo.com by Sept 21. We must receive payment for hired judges prior to Sept 30th. Directions, announcements and judging preference instructions will be sent out in the weeks prior to the tournament through Tabroom.com.

Both Divisions will consist of six preliminary debates. Power matching in Policy will be based on Wins, High Low Points + Opponents Wins, Total Points and Judge Variance. Rounds Three through Six will be matched High Low within brackets. (These are subject to change due to technology consultation). Up to 16 teams/debaters in policy with winning records will advance to elimination rounds. Up to 32 debaters in LD with winning records will advance to elimination rounds.

Entry and Fee Information

Entries must be made by Coaches or Administrators for schools. Student Accounts May Not enter the tournament. We have been forced to delete entries found to be made from student accounts.

COMPETITORS:

In both divisions, there is an initial entry limit of Five (5) entries per school. Every year we have been able to accommodate additional entries.

We can accommodate up to approximately 54 teams and 76 LDers. We typically reach capacity early, so please register early.

Lunch on Friday and dinner on Saturday will be included.

JUDGES:

Judge Requirements:

In policy, one judge can cover up to two teams. In LD, one judge can cover up to three entries

As our tournament attempts to provide national circuit level competition, we ask that all judges be have national experience and be qualified in their event, subject to our approval. Please do not make us ask you to replace your judge.

If you wish to have a judge in one division cover an entry in another division, please contact us.

All Judges will be required to have a judging philosophy sheet available on Tabroom.com. If you have not migrated your philosophy from the wiki to Tabroom, you MUST enter one on Tabroom to judge at the tournament.

A limited number of hired judges will be available for $300 each. Please contact us at timalderete@yahoo.com by Sept 21 if you need to hire judges. Hired judges are first come/first served – we have not always been able to fulfill late requests.

All judges are committed one round beyond their school’s elimination.

ENTRY FEES:

Fees will be $100 for a Policy Team

Fees will be $50 an LD Competitor

There are No extra Late, Drop, Hotel or School fees or Nuisance Fines added on.
