UHSAA Region 16 Championships

2018 — UT/US

2018 Utah Region 16 Tournament Invitation

2018 UTAH AA REGION 16 TOURNAMENT

Welcome to our brand-new region, all!  Thanks for bearing with me as I’ve scrambled to figure all of this out.  I’m excited to hang out with you wonderful adults while we play hooky from school and eat lots of junk food.  Oh, and also host Region... if I have to.  J

This tournament has a lot of moving parts due to the fact that it’s being held during school, and we’ll have to make some adjustments to make it work.  Please read over the schedule and instructions carefully, and check your emails (especially the week of Region) so I can send you more instructions about where exactly everything is, where your kids can hang out, etc.  If you have any questions and need to contact me, my email address is ehawkes@nsummit.org.  My phone number is (435) 770-9818.

Food:

Food will be provided for coaches and judges.

I will have some concessions available for contestants throughout the day, but I will NOT be providing meals for them.  Make sure your students come prepared for that.  There are a couple of restaurants in town that provide fast food options (Subway and Polar King).  We also have a BBQ place that’s good but not super fast.  Denise’s is a great choice, but it’s not fast and is only open until 4.  Kimball Junction is 20 minutes away and has a lot of food options if you want to buy food for your team and bring it over at mealtime.

Judges:

Please get your judges entered on Tabroom as quickly as possible.  Judge entries are due by February 23rd at 2:00 p.m.  Tabroom will let you know how many judges you need.  If you are bringing Congress entries, please make sure that you bring a Congress judge with you (someone who has experience with the event).

Each judge will need to have a Tabroom account set up, preferably BEFORE they show up on March 2nd.  To be honest, I create my judges’ accounts for them and then give them their usernames and passwords when they arrive.  All you really need in order to set those up is their email address and full name.  We will have a laptop station set up for the judges, along with people to help them figure out how to use Tabroom.

Remember that judges need to commit to staying through all rounds.  If a debate judge needs to leave at the end of the last debate round, that’s fine.  Just make sure that your IE judges are here and ready to stay through all IE rounds.
