Austin High and McCallum TFA Last Chance Invitational

2026 — NSDA Campus, TX/US

Extemp Instructions

  1. All competitors should enter the extemp draw 10 minutes before draw begins (40 minutes before the posted round start time). This will allow us to complete the roll call before Draw actually begins. If you arrive late, please notify the Extemp Proctor (Sade May) immediately; she will be in the breakout room (see below).

  2. To enter the draw, use the zoom info at the bottom of this document to join a zoom meeting.

  3. Once in the zoom meeting, enter the Extemp Draw/Prep breakout room.

  4. Once in the room, change your display name to indicate your First and Last name plus your event (IX or DX) plus your speaking position. So my display name would be “Vaughn Stockton - DX3” if I was the third speaker.

  5. Make sure your microphone is off and camera is on. If you need to communicate, do so using the chat feature.

  6. When roll call is being conducted, type “Here” into the chat when your name/school is called. This will create a verifiable list of which participants were present.

  7. After roll call, the Proctor will release and announce the topic options for the first speakers of each round section. All first speakers should quickly select one of the 3 options and type in that option to the chat so there is a clear record of their choice. Your prep time will start as soon as the options are released.

  8. The Proctor will continue to announce and release topics for each speaker position until all speakers have been issued topics. The proctor will indicate when each speaker order has 15 minutes remaining in their prep time and when they have 5 minutes left in their prep time.

  9. When the Proctor indicates that a speaker’s prep time has ended, speakers should enter the virtual round immediately using Tabroom.com. Once in the tabroom virtual round (video call), speakers may leave the zoom room.

  10. If speakers join the virtual round and find that the previous speaker is still going, please politely and quietly just wait for them to finish. When it is your turn, please type your topic into the chat, make sure your judge is ready, and try to get going as promptly as is feasible.

  11. When you finish speaking, please exit the virtual round. Feedback will be available once ballots are released.
