Speech Event Information

All speech events will use Kentucky High School Speech League rules. KHSSL events that occur on the national level are fairly well aligned to NSDA/NCFL rules. The exception to this is in "black book" events (Poetry, POI, and Prose) where a competitor must keep his/her feet planted on the floor throughout the performance.

Students may compete in up to two events per flight. Remember that Congress students may not enter any flight B speech events, but may enter two speech events in flight A.   

Flight A: Broadcast, Extemp, Improv Duo, Informative, Oratory, Poetry, and POI

Flight B: Declamtion, Drama, Duo Interp, Humor, Impromptu, Prose, and Storytelling
