KCFL State Qualifier
2025 — Online, KY/US
Invitation
925 S. Lincoln Blvd.
Hodgenville KY 42748
Dear Coaches:
The state qualifying meet for the NCFL National Tournament will be held asynchronously during the weekend of March 14-16, 2025 on tabroom.com. This is for SPEECH events only - debate will qualify via a bid system. This year, we will qualify six individuals in each event to send to the national tournament in Chicago, IL, over the Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-26, 2025.
Deadlines:
Entries/Videos - Due by Thursday, March 13, 2025 by 8:00 PM. Nuisance fees apply after this date. Registration will be done via the web at http://kcfl.tabroom.com/ and is currently open.
Fees:
State – entry fee for each STUDENT is $25.00. Duo-interpretation counts as two entries. Debate does NOT pay state entry fees - only national fees apply.
Nationals – entry fee for each STUDENT is $100 per entry (Duo/PF will be $200). I will send you an invoice for your state and national fees after the debate bid deadline has passed (March 14, 2025).
State Judges – Please have judges who can commit to judging all the rounds by the deadline.
National Judges – Hired judges at Nationals typically cost about $400. Dropped judges cost $500 - please make sure the judge names you give me will actually attend and judge their rounds in Chicago.
Double Entries:
Doubling at the state qualifier is allowed. Students can do the speech tournament AND bid for a debate slot. Then they can choose which one they want to take to nationals.
Remember, there is no doubling allowed at the national tournament, so a student can only QUALIFY one event to nationals. Preferences can be selected via the following link Preferences Paperwork.
You will find the Debate paperwork at this link Debate/Congress Bid Form.
Judges Quotas:
State Judge Quotas – one (1) judge for every six (6), speech entries.
Nationals Judge Quotas – one (1) judge for every two (2) speech entries; one (1) judge for every (this means a 1:1 quota) LD/PFD debate entry. These quotas MUST BE HONORED. Be ready to give me judges as soon as I confirm your debate bid has been accepted. We also have to provide at least one Congress judge from our district, and this person MUST be able to serve as a parliamentarian.
** Important Notices**
IF a student who qualifies chooses not to attend the national tournament for whatever reason, your school will not be refunded the entry fee. The final deadline for notifying me that a student will not be attending nationals is April 10, 2025; however, there is no excuse for waiting if you know sooner, as I can move up an alternate student to take the spot. Louisville wants to take as many students to nationals as we can. If you have to drop a student after the final deadline, you will be assessed a $50.00 drop fee in addition to forfeiting the original entry fee.
Please visit the NCFL site (www.ncfl.org) as ballots for many of the events have been revised. There are many notable changes, and it is your responsibility to know the rules for your events. I strongly urge the new coaches in the league to review the bylaws, rules, and ballots for NCFL at the web site – www.ncfl.org.
All coaches should make use of the site to get pertinent hotel information which is now available.
