From the GSL's Belonging and Inclusion Advocate, Ryan Knippel:

I volunteered to be the Great Salt Lake's Belonging and Inclusion Advocate at our districts tournaments (speech, Anyone from students, coaches, judges can seek support about about tournament concerns.

Whether it's allegations of serious misconduct, minor instances of potential bias/inequity, or even if a student just has a bad time and wants to vent, as long as the concern relates to one of the GSL districts tournaments, I will be on-site and available to work through reports.

For any coaches, especially those working in tab-- if a student comes to you with an equity concern or a complaint about another person's conduct, you can direct them to this link and I will be the dedicated person in charge of sorting that all out.

The reason this position exists is to a) take weight off the tab staff; b) report issues to the NSDA for data collection/analysis; c) create a rule-based system for consistently resolving issues. If you have any questions about this position or the process, please reach out.
