Tournament Notes
The following are some tournament rules and procedures you need to be aware of:
Registration:
• Both Coach and Scholar needs to have an account in both the NSDA site and Tabroom. Ensure that the cell phone number you input is the cell phone you bring to the tournament with you. This is how both judges and scholars will receive round announcements (blasts from Tabroom).
• Coaches make sure you have "linked" each scholar to your Tabroom account or you will not be able to register them in the tournament.
• Speech scholars may enter all three events (Prose, Poetry, and Original Spoken Word). Public Forum debaters may not enter any speech events. Public Forum debaters may enter as one team with a partner. You may not enter multiple times with different partners.
• Reference and complete each tab under General Info and Pages & Uploads on the main page of the invention.
• Any changes to your registration needs to be provided as soon as possible. Changes includes adds, drops, name changes, and judge changes. Do not wait until the day of the tournament to provide this information. Last minute changes may postpone the start of the tournament. Email updates to Andrew Eddy at AEddy@uplifteducation.org.
Rules and Procedures:
• The use of any AI / Chat GBT tool(s) is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification. Refer to the NSDA ruling in the High School manual for complete details regarding AI use. (Page 143).
• Scholars are not permitted to enter the competition room until their judge arrives. Failure to abide by this rule may result in disqualification. Signs will be posted on each competition room.
• Public Forum debaters make sure you receive a "Pro / Con" plaqert. Also bring a coin with you to toss for positioning unless we use an online coin toss.
• The use of computers and internet during a Public Forum round., refer to the rules and procedures as outlined in the TFA Constitution beginning on page 61. Contestants will be responsible for all computer charging equipment (chargers, surge protectors, etc.) The tournament nor CMO will be responsible for providing the equipment.
• Public Forum will be three random preliminary rounds, semi's pairings will be based on high / low ( 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3).
• During any down-time, you are to report to the hospitality area. CMO will be providing breakfast and lunch.
• Prose and Poetry contestants should be using the black interpretation books and sheet protectors. These can be ordered from the NSDA Store on the NSDA site.
• Dress code for contestants is business to business casual attire with no school affiliation. Coaches and judges are casual.
• It is recommended that everyone bring a computer with them. In the event of the cell phone carriers shutting off our access, blasts will be sent to the email address you signed up with in Tabroom.
• Judging panels will be used in all elimination rounds (3 judges).
PARENTS ARE WELCOME TO COME AND OBSERVE THE TOURNAMENT. PLEASE REPORT TO THE PEGASUS PARK NORTH LOBBY
