Student Congress

Students may run for Presiding Officer. Candidates should be entered during online registration.

We will follow the Texas Forensic Association (TFA) rules for Congressional Debate.

The docket will consist of the following items from the Texas Forensic Association Spring 2023 docket:

Prelims: 1, 7, 10, 15

Finals: 18, 21, 26, 27

Resolved: The United States Federal Government should increase its diplomatic efforts to peacefully resolve internal armed conflicts in West Asia.

**1st prepared motion**:

In art and popular culture, This House believes that creating new lead characters
for minorities (e.g. Black Panther, Shang-Chi, and Gamora in the Marvel
Cinematic Universe) is preferable to recasting them in existing roles already
played by other actors/communities (e.g. Ghostbusters, The Little Mermaid).

This House believes that rehabilitation should be prioritized over retribution in
criminal sentencing.
