NSDA Districts Specific Rules

The rules of the NSDA Unified Manual will be followed throughout this tournament. As this tournament is very different from those in TFA or UIL circuits, you have the affirmative duty to READ the manual completely before participation. For reference, you can find the manual here:https://www.speechanddebate.org/high-school-unified-manual/As it relates to decisions that are left to the District Committee, here is how we have voted on those items:

Debate Specific votes:
1. We will use a Single Elimination bracket following breaks.
2. We will be using a speaker point scale from 25-30 and will use tenth-point increments
3. We will utilize prelim seeds as a tiebreaker for Nationals alternates
4. We will have 1 judge per round in prelim debates
5. In debate events with fewer than 8 teams/participants, we will do a Round Robin

Congress Specific vote:
1. We will not use student rank in the tournament

IE Specific votes:
1. We will have the required 3 prelim rounds
2. We will break AT LEAST 25% of the pool in all events, with anyone having a cume rank tied to someone in the top 25% also advancing
3. We will use 1 judge in each prelim round

Judges:
1. We will attempt to use judges that are 3+ years out of graduation, but will handle specific judge questions by voting as a committee. This will be done in instances when the judge in question is highly preferred, and/or is in a pool where we have challenges getting qualified judges.
