Potential Session Topics

Impact Calculus & Impact Mini-Debates: in these sessions, students will briefly be taught best practices when comparing impacts in a debate round. They will then have short mini-debates where they can put this new content into action.

In the Mind of the Judge: in this session, students will view a debate round alongside an experienced debate judge. The judge will flow along with students, and provide moderated commentary + visually display their flow to students throughout the session, helping them understand how the content of a debate speech may be interpreted by a judge. Coaches are encouraged to participate in this session.

Impromptu Motion Drills: in these sessions, students will simulate the impromptu prep process.

Prepared Motion Sessions: in these sessions, students will work on preparing prop. and opp. arguments for the WSD motions we will use at our February tournaments.

Intro to the Spring Core Files: in these sessions, students will receive a primer on the spring core files, briefly discuss using the core files to put together constructive speeches, and discuss potential avenues for future research on this topic. We will also discuss strategies to use in your speeches when doing evidence comparison.
