Richard King High School TFA Tournament

COVID Protocols and General Information

The tournament will take place IN-PERSON on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Richard King High School in Corpus Christi, TX. This will be a ONE DAY tournament.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT BY REGISTERING FOR THIS TOURNAMENT YOU AND YOUR SCHOOL ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING STIPULATIONS FOR THIS IN-PERSON TOURNAMENT. FAILURE TO COMPLY COULD RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE TOURNAMENT!

1.     Masks – Competitors and sponsors are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to wear masks when not competing.

 

2.     Social Distancing – Every effort will be made to provide adequate social distancing for schools. We will do our best to section off areas of the cafeteria for schools. If space allows we can provide individual classrooms for schools to gather in. It is expected of schools to stay in their designated areas when not competing.

 

3.     Schools should not bring students who have exhibited COVID symptoms or who have tested positive for COVID within 7 days of the tournament.

 

4.     Although not required by TEA, if a student does contract COVID after the tournament, the school should contact Richard King HS so that appropriate contact tracing can be performed.

 

5.     Meals – We will be having a concession stand available throughout the day. Coaches/sponsors should expect to acquire meals from restaurants in the campus vicinity. A hospitality room will be provided for coaches and judges only. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

 

6.     There must be a school-approved chaperone with students at all times.

 

7. CX topic will be the 2021-22 National High School Policy Debate Topic. The LD Topic will be the January/February topic: Resoled: The appropriation of outer space by private entities is unjust.

 

8. Congress will use 1-10 for prelims and 11-20 for finals.

 

Your school must have an adult sponsor/judge to be available at all times for all tournament times/rounds to judge and provide support for the tournament if/when needed.
