Loyola Scrimmage Rules 2016

1. Disclosure - 1ACs will be disclosed 30 minutes prior to the start time. 1NCs will be disclosed 15 minutes prior to the start time. the 1AC cannot intentionally change and the 1NC can only change if 1AC cross-examination answers create ground otherwise not available. 
2. Cross-Examinations - Each Cross-Examination will be 5 minutes intead of 3 minutes.
3. Prep Time - Prep Time will be 7 minutes instead of 10 minutes. The extra cross-examination time recovers the time and then some. Maverick teams still get 10 minutes. 
4. Open Sourced - Everything disclosed will be provided in open source format (full tags, cites, text, underlining, highlighting and pre-round analytics). Disclosure is incomplete without complying with this format. 
5. Time Limits - Judge Decisions are Due no later than 1 hour and 45 minutes after the posted start time. Because the following round will likely be posted immediately after that start time, the more time you take to decide the round, the less time you have to discuss with the debaters the round. So plan accordingly. 
6. Topic - The Scrimmage will follow the 2015-2016 NSDA High School Topic ("Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially curtail its domestic surveillance.")
7. Open Box Debating - Debaters are encouraged to read anything they want as long as they comply with the rules listed above (and applicable school conduct rules). The purpose is to both have fun and learn fundamental skills about debate. 
8. Email Chains - Every debater will use email chains at the tournament. This saves valuable minutes lost from redundant USB drive transfers / tech failures. The judge should be added to it if desired. The email chain should be initially set up by the 1A during disclosure of the 1AC.
9. Consent for Video/Audio Recording - By attending, you expressly consent to be audio/video recorded by competitors, judges, or tournament administrators for educational purposes or to test potential allegations of clipping. Those recorded may request an immediate copy of the recorded material, which must be given as as soon as reasonably possible.  
10. Clipping. Clipping results in a loss and zero points. Audio evidence is sufficient but not necessary to make a successful clipping allegation to the judge. Audio evidence is however necessary to make a successful clipping allegation to the tournament administration.
