FAQ
This will be updated periodically as new questions arise.
Is this tournament open to middle schoolers?
This is a high school tournament; there is not a junior division. However, middle schoolers may “play up” and enter. Note that they will be competing against high schoolers. If you are a middle school coach, please make sure your judges understand that they may see more adult content than they are used to when judging.
Are synchronous events on October 30th, or the 27th?
All live events will run on the 30th.
Can independent programs (after school programs, homeschool) compete?
In Kentucky, all students must compete for their assigned school, be it public, private, or homeschool cooperative. If you are outside of Kentucky, we will accept you as you come.
Can my PF or CX team be a maverick?
Nope.
Will you be giving “next out” awards?
You bet! The “next out” entry will get a special spooky surprise.
How does this split screen thing work for duo interp?
Each partner should be in a separate frame and the performance recorded where the frames are side by side on the screen. You can do this in Zoom or other platforms.
So in improv duo the partners must be in separate rooms?
Yes.
How long will you take costume contest entries?
We will accept entries through Tuesday 10/26. The link to the entry form can be found on the "costume contest" page of this website.
How will limited prep topics be distributed?
Topics will be emailed to coaches at the designated release time (see schedule) and then posted on this website.
We really have a whole day to record these limited prep speeches?
Yes. We realize that there can be issues with technology and scheduling time to record the speech, so there's buffer time. Students and coaches should respect the integrity and prep time rules for this event. Performances should be recorded once and utilize only the amount of prep time reserved per event rules. Impromptu and improv duo prep must be recorded. These are the best practice rules in KY that we have been using for asynchronous tournaments since April 2020.
