Information and Fees

 CROSS-ENTER AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION. Although the schedule allows students to compete in several events, and we will do our best to accommodate cross-entries, we will start rounds on time as much as possible. 

REGISTRATION FEES

Individual Events & Student Congress - $20.00

LD Debate (Novice & Varsity) - $30.00

PF Debate - $40.00

CX Debate (Novice & Varsity) - $40.00

Drops will be charged the full fee after the registration deadline. Drop fees will double after Thursday, 10/28 4:00pm.

We will collapse Novice & Varsity for LD and/or CX as needed.

 

JUDGE INFO

Debate judges are requested not to make extensive oral critiques during or immediately following rounds until ballots are returned.

 

JUDGE REQUIREMENTS:

CX DEBATE: 1 judge for every two entries or portion thereof

LD DEBATE: 1 judge for every four entries or portion thereof

PF DEBATE: 1 judge for every four entries or portion thereof

SPEAKING/INTERP: 1 judge for every six entries or portion thereof

Judge fees are $65.00 per event for speaking/interp events and $125.00 per event for debate events per judge not provided. Judge fees are due for any cancellations after October 28th 4:00pm.

All school judges are required to be present and accounted for throughout the day, including during the afternoon and evening rounds so we will be able to accelerate semis and finals where possible.

IE/Interp judges will be instructed to remain in their assigned rooms 30 minutes after the beginning of competition to allow students to make their rounds.  Students will be considered no-shows for debate rounds fifteen minutes after the round is scheduled to begin unless in the previous round.  After that time, no-shows will forfeit that round. Cross-entries must plan accordingly.

Sweepstakes 

Sweepstakes points will be awarded as follows:

Debate: 1 point for each prelim win, 5 points for non-advancing quarterfinalists, 10 points for non-advancing semifinalists, 15 points for 2nd place and 20 points for 1st place.

Individual Events and Congress: 1 point for students reaching finals, 2 point for 6th place, 3 points for 5th place, 4 points for 4th place, 5 points for 3rd place, 10 points for 2nd place and 15 points for 1st place.

 

WE WILL BREAK BRACKETS IN DEBATE. 

 

An adult sponsor must remain on campus at all times.

 

All registrations must be submitted through Tabroom.

 

All participants are reminded to exercise extreme care in the classrooms.  We are very grateful to our school for allowing us use of the classrooms and need to reflect this in our care and handling of all school property. Rooms should be left clean and orderly with any desks moved during rounds returned to their original position as much as possible. Students are not allowed in rooms without a judge. We don't want to disqualify anyone, so please don't make it an issue.

 

Congressional Debate

Congress will use 1-5 for prelims and 6-10 for finals.
