TFA State 2021 - Extemp Draw Procedures

EXTEMP DRAW PROCEDURES 

Congratulations on qualifying for the Texas Forensic Association’s 2021 State Tournament in Extemporaneous Speaking!! 

The following are the 10 Extemp Draw Procedures that the Draw Staff will use to conduct Draw: 

1. All Qualifiers MUST report to the Draw Room in order to be counted as a valid round draw.

2. Unless directed by the Tab Room – draw will begin exactly on time.  Speaker 1 will draw their topics at the time listed in the schedule.  Therefore, you need to report to the Draw Room 15 minutes in advance for roll call and announcements.

3. Pay attention when we are making announcements.  You are responsible for the information we will be giving.   Once again, announcements will begin 15 minutes before draw begins. 

4. Once you have drawn your topic, you need to keep your camera on, your microphone muted and in the frame view during your entire prep time. 

5. Draw staff must be able to see you the entire time you are prepping your speech.

6. Adhere to the naming conventions set forth by the tournament when you enter the Draw Room.

7. Do not exit the Draw Room until you have been released by the Draw staff.  Once released, completely exit the Draw Room to go into your Speaking Room.

8. Once you have left to speak, do not reenter the Draw Room during the remainder of the round.

9. Remember to have fun when you are speaking!!  This is the State meet and upbeat positive energy goes a long way.
