Speech Info for Coaches

There are some important updates and requirements to our virtual Individual Events State Qualifier which takes place on Sunday, March 7, 2021. Please review ALL the information and reach out to Justin and Kimberly if you have questions. 

REGISTRATION: All entries need to be entered in Tabroom by this Friday, February 26 at 5:00 PM. 

SCRIPT INFORMATION: Per our updated protocol presented at the coaches meeting regarding scripts, all entries in scripted speech events will need to complete this Script Submission Form by Sunday, February 28 at 11:59 PM. Students only entered in IMP, NX, or IX need not submit a form. Failure to submit this form may result in disqualification of the entry. 

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: Video submissions will need to be submitted as unlisted Youtube videos to Classrooms.Cloud by Thursday, March 4 at 11:59 PM. The submission window will open on Monday, March 1.

SINGLE-ENTRY LETTER OF INTENT: Coaches are responsible for submitting the Single-Entry Intent Form for each competitor who will be double-entered in Speech events OR entered in Congress+Speech event(s). This needs to be submitted prior to debate competition beginning by Friday, March 5 at 11:59 PM. The signature page is available to download here. 

JUDGE CHANGES: In response to equity concerns regarding speech judging, we have implemented a few requirements for judges. As a result, we are asking that all IE judges be entered in Tabroom by this Friday, February 26 at 11:59 PM. 

Coaches will be asked to “rate” the judges to ensure we have a balanced pool. In addition, ALL speech judges will be REQUIRED to complete this free Cultural Competency Judge Training. Judges should be instructed to submit their Certificate of Completion to this form no later than Thursday, March 4 at 11:59 PM.
