Equity/Rules Violations

The Sunvite Tournament supports equity and fairness in competition. We will not tolerate harassment or discrimination.

If a competitor, judge, or coach wishes to file a Rules protest or Equity violation, follow the instructions here on Tabroom and use the appropriate form. Please complete the correct form.
The process is that the complaint would go to a chair who would read and assess. If the complaint warrants investigation, the chair would assemble members of the committee. The committee chair will invite those who filed the complaint into the Equity/Rules Zoom room. The committee would then confer, investigate, and make a determination. There will be rooms set aside just for Equity/Rules committee use on ClassroomClouds.

Note in evidence based debate events, prior to judges ruling on evidence challenges, someone from the tab staff or rules committee needs to be present in the room to explain the process. The Sunvite committee follows all NSDA guidelines, however the implementation of those guidelines and spirit of the rule is up to interpretation by the Tournament Director and Rules committee. There is a distinct DIFFERENCE between exaggerating evidence and falsifying evidence. "Misconstruing" evidence is a vague term and will be discussed and explained by the staff prior to judges ruling. To be clear, if evidence is read verbatim from an article, short of adding/subtracting words from the evidence it is likely not an ethics challenge.
