Changes to Congress (11/25)

We do not have enough POs signed up to run all 10 of our prelim chambers. As a result, we will need to change our system for how Presiding Officers will work. Please find the new system below:

• Those students signed up for the PO competition will preside over Semifinals and Finals.

• For the Varsity prelim rounds, we will be using 2 competitors from each chamber to share PO duties. These will not be voted on as with NSDA. Coaches will designate these competitors ahead of time, and chambers will be paneled accordingly.

• In each chamber, each round, one PO will preside for the first 1/2 of the round while the other competes, giving an early speech (does not have to be the first on either side) and offering to cross examine speakers. During the second half of the round, the other PO will take over and that will allow the 1st PO to compete.

• These POs will preside for the good of the chamber and will not be involved in a PO competition. Their presiding services will no longer be needed in Semifinals and Finals.
