If you are in the state of Pennsylvania, you can earn one leg of a bid to compete at the state tournament in March IF the event you competed in is an official PHSSL event and fits into the following quota system:

5-9 in an event = 1 / (1st place bid) 
10-16 = 2 (1st-2nd place)
17-23 = 3 / (1st-3rd place) 
24-30 = 4 / (1st-4th place) 
31-40 = 5 / (1st-5th place) 
41-Infinity = 6 / (1st-6th place)

The number of contestants who actually competed in each category was as follows:
Public Forum - 23 (3 bids)
Lincoln Douglas - 25 (4 bids)
Parliamentary Debate - 14 (2 bids)
Student Congress - 38 (chambers with 9 speakers - 1 bid; chambers with 10 speakers - 2 bids)
Dramatic Interp - 6 (1 bid)
Humorous Interp - 7 (1 bid)
Duo Interp - 12 (2 bids)
Prose - 20 (3 bids)
Poetry - 13 (2 bids)
Oratory - 32 (5 bids)
Informative - 8 (1 bid)
