Wilson Online Invitational

Wilson High School Online Invitational

Saturday, November 14, 2020

Wilson High School is excited to invite you to our Online Invitational Tournament, hosted by the NSDA Campus this year.

Entries: Novice and Open divisions will be available in all events. In some cases, we may need to collapse Novice and Open, but we will still recognize each division in awards. We will be following OSAA State Rules for all events.

Fees

  • School fee = $25.00

  • IE fees = $8.00 per entry (Duo is one entry)

  • Debate fees = $12.00 per team

Double Entries: Students can be double-entered for two asynchronous IE events, but can only be entered in one synchronous IE event and one debate event.

Deadlines: Registration opens Monday, October 12, on Tabroom, and the system will stop allowing new entries at 5:00 pm on Monday, November 9th.

Judges: One judge required for every 4 entries. Please sign your judges up for appropriate shifts as indicated. Judges are expected to be available during all times within that shift--whether morning or afternoon. If you are unable to field enough judges for the tournament, uncovered entries will be charged an extra $10/entry. Please ensure that all judges have linked Tabroom accounts. Morning judges must be present for the 8:00 am judges orientation.

Events are either LIVE (synchronous) or RECORDED (asynchronous) as indicated below. (Subject to change)

LIVE (synchronous) - EXTEMP, IMPROMPTU, ADS, POETRY, PROSE, POI, LD, PARLI, POFO, POLICY

RECORDED (asynchronous) - DUO, DI, HI, INFORMATIVE, ORATORY, RADIO, LIELL

For asynchronous entries:  Competitors will record a video of their performance and provide a viewable link to their coaches. Coaches will upload this link in the Entry Details section on Tabroom (click the Edit button next to each entry from the Entry tab and paste the link in the "Link to performance video" box).  All ASYNCHRONOUS (recorded) entries must be uploaded on Tabroom by 8:00 pm on Monday 11/11. If you are uploading to YouTube, students/coaches should make sure that the video privacy is set to "UNLISTED" as opposed to "PRIVATE".  Students may also record via Loom, upload a file to Google Drive, or some other method.  But, students should make sure that their videos can be accessed/viewed by those who have the link.

NOTE: We will use Nov/Dec debate topics for PF, Policy, and LD debate. For Novice LD, we will still be using the Novice topic--civil disobedience in a democracy--as the tournament schedule has been somewhat pushed back this year and we are still early in the Oregon schedule of tournaments.
