$50 a debater

 

Why still $50?

Shipping and trophy costs.  Our award traditions are very special to us and we would like to maintain them.  

 

Judges?

1 judge per debater, 2 judge panels in prelims

 

Finals judging?

Panel of debate coaches-hopefully some surprise hires.  We will not require the competitors of the Round Robin to judge the final in recognition of tech challenges and sensitivity to time zones. (sorry West Coast)

 

Streaming policy?

2 party consent required for any recording or streaming.  You must ask, we have students and coaches who do not want to be recorded and we will have zero tolerance for any non consensual recording or streaming.

 

Given consent we will also livestream some debates to YouTube.  This helps with overloading the rooms with audience members.  Large audiences work best with a small set of folks in the room and the majority watching the stream from YouTube.

 

Observer Policy?

Round Robin will allow observers.  You'll have the Zoom links and you are free to share them with your team.  We ask that you direct general audiences and public groups to YouTube streams to prevent our Zoom Room Managers from being flooded.   

 

Naming Policy?

Naming will be authorized for all those in the Zoom Rooms.  We ask that you follow this format:

 

Type.ZRM-Number.Name.School

 

e.g.  Judge.Meadows1.Claire Rung.Lafayette College

 

Types:  Judge, Competitor, Observer

Folks who do not follow proper naming procedures will be placed in breakout rooms last and might get kicked.  Abuse of naming will result in perma bans to the meeting room to your device.  

 

Tournament Model?

We will use tabroom and Zoom Rooms.  Tabroom easily embeds Zoom links into a pairing, you'll find your room the same way you would find your ballot or room number at an in person tournament.  

 

Practice?

We want to conduct a Round Zero.  I'm still coordinating if that will take place with the whole tournament and at what time.  Please contact me, I can walk you through it - it's a modality I've spent a decent chunk of time in.

 

When do we pay?

Round Robin fees will be folded into your total entry fees for the tournament.
