We are pleased to invite you to participate in the Sixth Annual FLUCO Classic Speech Tournament, to be held at Fluvanna County High School in Palmyra, Virginia. We are centrally located in Virginia, just 20 minutes south of Charlottesville, and 1 hour west of Richmond. Your students will be able to choose from eight individual Speech events — Dramatic Interp, Extemporaneous Speaking, Humorous Interp, Impromptu, Original Oratory, Poetry Reading, Prose Reading, Storytelling, and three duo events — Duo Improv, Humorous Duo Interp and Serious Duo Interp.

The tournament will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018.

$20 registration fee per School

$10 per Individual Speech entry (Impromptu, DI, Extemp, HI, OO, Poetry, Prose, Storytelling)

$20 per Duo Entry (Humorous Duo, Serious Duo, Duo Improvisation)

$100 per hired judge (limited availability; request early)

Registration for all events is 8:00 – 9:00 am in the cafeteria. This schedule is tentative, and each round will be announced in the Cafeteria and Judges Lounge.

Entry Fee:  $10 individual entries (Duo entries are $20).

Judges:Schools must provide one judge per 1-5 entries. You may not cover Speech entries with judges from other events. A limited number of hired judges may be available at $100 per judge. We will offer a judge orientation at 9:00 AM.

Trophies will be presented to the top three entries in each category. Medals will be presented to 4th, 5th and 6th place in each category. A sweepstakes trophy will be presented to the top small and large school.

Food and snacks will be available for purchase in the morning and for lunch, served by the FLUCOspeech team parents.
