The Pineville High School Speech & Debate team cordially invites you to attend the 2018 Pineville Rebel Classic Speech and Debate Tournament. Our tournament will be held January 5-6, 2018 in Pineville, Louisiana on the beautiful PHS campus. 

As the tournament is being held during the first weekend in January, our school will not be in session on Friday the 5th, enabling us to run an early schedule and three full rounds of debate on Friday! If numbers permit, we will be offering the following events: 

Jr/Sr Duo Interpretation, Jr/Sr Duet Acting, Jr/Sr Humorous Interpretation, Jr/Sr Dramatic Interpretation, Jr/Sr Oral Interpretation, Program Oral Interpretation, Original Oratory, Declamation, Jr/Sr Extemporaneous, Jr/Sr Impromptu, Novice/Advanced Lincoln Douglas, Novice/Advanced Policy/CX, Public Forum, and Congress. 

Debate Resolutions: 

NLD & ALD will be using the new Jan/Feb topic, Resolved: Plea bargaining ought to be abolished in the United States Criminal Justice System.

Congress will be using the LHSSL December 2017 dockets as some schools may not have time with the new dockets before Winter Break.

Public Forum will be using the new January topic, Resolved: Spain should grant Catalonia its independence.

Policy/CX resolution: Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its funding and/or regulation of elementary and/or secondary education in the United States.
