Hello, Colleagues!

The 10th annual Carter/King Quest for the Dream Speech and Debate Tournament at Henry W. Grady HS is November 17-18, 2017. We will utilize Grady High School and Inman Middle School to host what we hope will be great competition and a wonderful experience. Once again we are a bid tournament for the Individual Events Tournament of Champions as well as a state qualifier for the GFCA Varsity State Tournament for member schools. Big Questions Debates will occur on Friday, October 17. On October 18, we will offer Novice and Varsity Public Forum Debate, Novice and Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, Original Oratory, Informative Speaking, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation and Program of Oral Interpretation. Elimination rounds will be determined by the number of entries in each event. A VERY tentative schedule is provided on this website.

We will utilize Inman Middle School if space becomes an issue. We are currently determining the best way to achieve a smooth transition back to Grady HS after preliminary rounds in the events that may be at Inman. We will update as information informs our decisions regarding locations of events. Inman is a 10 minute walk to Grady HS.

We will have awards for all offered events. Sweepstakes awards will be given to the top 5 schools overall as well as the top 2 small schools, or schools with 10 or fewer entries at the tournament.

We will offer food throughout the tournament for students including dinner Friday night and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday. Our amazing Booster Club will have a hospitality lounge for coaches, judges, parents and bus drivers.
