Dear Coaches and Speech & Debaters:

Please join us for the Knight’s Joust.  This tournament will provide an introduction to some fun events for students at the beginning of their debate and speech careers.  There will be 2 flights so you are able to double entry with a total of (4 entries) per person except for extemporaneous.  We will have two division of competition available: Open/Varsity and Novice.  Pertinent details are listed below, but please feel free to contact me with any additional information.  We hope to see you Friday & Saturday 13th & 14th of October.

 

Checks for entry fees and hired judges need to be mailed or brought to the tournament prior to the beginning of round one. Checks should be made out to Lone Peak High School and mailed to:

Directions

Lone Peak HIgh School is located in Northern Utah County.  Turn off on I-15 (Thanksgiving Point exit 284) towards Alpine on Timpanogos Hwy.  Drive 6.2 miles and turn right onto N 4800 West/Lone Peak Pkwy for 1.1 miles.  Lone Peak High School will be on the right.

Tournament Events

LD topic: Resolved: In the United States, national service ought to be compulsory.

Note from tournament director: The decision to NOT use the novice topic on civil disobedience is intentional. All debaters should be prepared on the National Service topic.

PF topic: Resolved: Deployment of anti-missile systems is in South Korea’s best interest.

Extemp topics: A list of questions will be released on this site by September 6th. Though many tournaments use the list provided by the NFHS, this will not be available for October. The topics released for this tournament will be created by the tournament director.

Congress legislation: A list of congress legislation will be released on this site on September 6th.

We will not allow double entry in Extemporaneous Speaking.  

 

Entry Procedure and Deadline: The Knight's Joust will be using Tabroom.com for entries and ballots.

 

Tournament Fees

Events/Division:  $4.00 per event

Team cost:  $15 per day or $30 for the weekend

 

Obligations Freeze

October 10th, 5:00 pm

 

Judges Entries Due (Judges must have access to tabroom.com for judging)

October 10th, 5:00 pm

 

Online drops & Name Changes Until

October 6th, 5:00 pm  Fees will be calculated at this time and drop fees will be assessed for any drops after this time. See the fee schedule below for details about drop fees.

Judges Training
