Pineville HS Debate Tournament

2017 — Pineville, LA/US

The Pineville High School Speech and Debate Team wishes to invite you and your students to Pineville High School’s first “Speak Up” Speech and Debate Tournament. The tournament will be held at Pineville High School on January 28, 2017, and will consist of Novice and Advanced divisions of Policy and Lincoln-Douglas Debate as well as a collapsed division of Impromptu. We are very excited to host, as this tournament is the focus for the senior project of one of Pineville’s team members in order to raise awareness for communication disorders.

The Policy topic will be the high school 2016-2017 Policy topic. The Lincoln-Douglas topic will be the January/February NSDA LD topic. Impromptu themes are Importance of Childhood, Education, Communication, and Empathy. In order to fit the schedule into one day, we will be doing impromptu rounds simultaneously with debate rounds. This means that students will not be able to cross-enter.

However, Buckeye High School is hosting Congress in Pineville High’s library the morning of January 28. Scheduling is fit to where students that attend Congressional Debate will not be able to compete in Lincoln-Douglas or Policy but will be able to compete in Impromptu. The two tournaments, PHS’s “Speak Up” and Buckeye High’s, are considered separate tournaments both located at PHS. They must be registered for separately. To register for Congressional Debate, go to Buckeye High’s Tabroom link here:http://buckeyehs.tabroom.com

Entries and judge information will be due the Monday before the tournament. Registration opens on January 13, 2017. We look forward to seeing you on January 28th!

Sincerely,

Wayne Edmondson (PHS Coach)
