The Omega Round Robin

2017 — Oakland, CA/US

The Omega Round Robin

The Parliamentary Debate Tournament of Champions will be followed by the real battle royale.

On Sunday, April 9, 2017, one hour after the conclusion of the Parli TOC, the Omega Round Robin will kick off at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California.

The Omega Round Robin will be by invitation only with a field comprised of eight of the top teams in the POI rankings. If we do not fill the field with the top eight teams, we will offer the remaining spots to the top-eight individual debaters (not already competing) in order of their ranking on POI. These eight debaters will be paired into hybrid teams. If after making offers to the top-eight debaters the field is still is not at eight teams, we will make offers to the 9-16 ranked teams.

The judging pool will be restricted to college parli coaches, college parli debaters, high school parli coaches, and former Parli TOC debaters.

There will be 7 preliminary rounds of debate. Two prelims will be staged Sunday night and the five remaining prelims will take place starting Monday morning.

The tournament will break the top four teams to semifinals.

The cost of this tournament will be $0 for teams in competition. Meals, snacks, beverages, paper, respect will be provided to debaters, along with a commemorative hoodie. The champion trophy will be dope. You worked hard to get here so this tournament will cater to you.

Each team will need to provide one qualified judge per entry or purchase a judge for $300.

Acceptance into this tournament will be based on POI rankings as of March 1, 2017. We will open registration on March 2. Tournament points accrued after March 1 will not count towards Omega Round Robin eligibility (and this includes the Parli TOC).

This will be a fitting capstone to an amazing season. We hope you have what it takes to get here.
