BIG QUESTIONS AT STRATH HAVEN

Please join the Strath Haven Speech and Debate team for a night of competition in the newest Speech and Debate event: Big Questions Debate. The topic -

Resolved: Science leaves no room for free will.

We we hold a three-round tournament, with a final round, on Tuesday, March 28. The tournament will begin at 4pm and conclude with a brief awards ceremony at 8:15pm. We ask that all schools arrive by 3:30 so that we may begin the tournament on time. We will serve pizza (included in registration fee of $5 per student) for dinner.

The tournament has two divisions: "Pro" and "Amateur." The "Pro" division is intended for students with more than one year of competitive experience in debate. Students with experience in Speech/Congress or no Speech and Debate experience may enter the "Amateur" division. Students in their first year of competitive debate may register in either division. In either division, students may register as an individual or as a team. We will also accept "challenge" requests - if two students/teams mutually request a match-up, we will assign them to debate each other!

There are many resources from NSDA including videos, judge guidelines, and sample cases and evidence on the Resources page (link at right). Using the sample cases in round is allowed!
