You're a member of the Parliamentary Debate community.

• You want to get at least one more tournament in before State Quals (2/19-20).
• You want to see some of the best local competitors for yourself.
• You want to get some points for the Parliamentary Debate Tournament of Champions (or the National Speech and Debate Association).

You've come to the right place.

iLEAD North Hollywood (14701 Friar Street, Van Nuys CA 91411) can host up to 30 total teams at our campus on Sunday, 2/7.  Our head coach, Iain Lampert, has been running fast, efficient tournaments for years, and he'd like to make sure our league does as well as it possibly can at the state championship.

THERE ARE NO ENTRY FEES REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE.  This is because we do not intend to provide trophies (this is about the experience, not the plastic).  We also request that competitors pitch in and bring their own money for food--there are local Italian/Mexican/Thai places that are happy to deliver.  We will order from those places, and there'll be some time to eat during prep.

It is VERY important that teams provide judges.  We are requesting one judge per every two teams.  In the interest of time, the judges will not be filing out detailed ballots; they will be disclosing (and taking no more than five minutes to provide critiques) immediately following the round, and then reporting back to the tab room with the outcome.  

SCHEDULE for Sunday, 2/7:

• ROUND 1: 8:30 to 9:45
• ROUND 2: 9:45 to 11
• ROUND 3: 11 to 12:15
• ROUND 4: 12:15 to 1:30
• ROUND 5: 1:30 to 2:45
• Take a break for a short while
• BREAK ROUND #1: 3:30 to 4:30
• BREAK ROUND #2: 4:30 to 5:30

Internet prep is allowed.

If we get at least 11 teams signed up, the tournament is a "go!"

The tournament will have FIVE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS (back to back to back).  Then, we'll have an hour for lunch, and break to a semifinal and final round.
