February Snowzilla Tournament

2016 — MD/US

The Prince George’s Debate League is pleased to invite you to the 2016 February Snowzilla Debate Tournament on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 9:00am to 5:00pm at Bowie High School.

High School Public Forum Debate Topic:

Resolved: On balance, economic sanctions are reducing the threat Russia poses to Western interests

Middle School Parliamentary Debate Topics:

Resolved: Thirty minutes of daily recess should be mandatory in all public schools.

Resolved: Two years of mandatory military service should be required of all U.S. citizens over the age of 18.

Team Registration:  Each school is limited to 4 competitive teams and 1 alternate team.  Please try your best to give us accurate numbers when you register your teams. We use these numbers to forecast transportation, food, and judge needs. Dropping large numbers of students on the day-of or during the tournament causes us to spend large sums of money that we could have saved for another event.

When students are added/changed at the last minute, we oftentimes will not have enough resources to allow them to participate in the tournament. Furthermore, making large numbers of changes to your registration the day-of or during the tournament causes huge delays (making the tournament run late), causes major problems with our tournament tabulation software, and creates unneeded additional work and stress for those volunteering.  Teams making changes to their roster on the day of will be forced to forfeit Round 1.

Judges:   In order for the tournament to run smoothly and on-time, all schools must meet the judging requirements (1 judge for every student team) or your students may not be allowed to participate due to judge shortages. Judges are expected to be available for ALL rounds of competition. High School students are eligible to judge for middle school debate only. A confirmation email and a Google calendar invite will be sent to all judges registered.
