Ryle Blizzard Blowout

2015 — KY/US

Winter 2015

Dear High School Forensic Coaches,

Boone County High School and Larry A. Ryle High School are pleased to invite you to the December 5th   Boone/Ryle Blizzard Blowout.   We would love you to join us at Ryle High School in Union, KY for swing tournaments and a frosty good time!

CATEGORIES

All KHSSL IE categories will be offered.  Debate (Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Policy) will be offered at the Ryle portion of the tournament.  Congressional debate will be offered at the Boone portion of the tournament.   Students may do as many as three events, but rounds will not be held for any student because they are triple entered.  It is not recommended that a student triple in more than two limited prep events.  Students entering debate or congress MAY ONLY DO THAT ONE EVENT at that particular tournament.  For example, a student could compete in PFD during the Ryle tournament and then triple in speech events at the Boone tournament.

AWARDS

We will be giving trophies to the top 6 speech performers in each event.  A “next out” award will be given to each 7th place competitor in each category.  Each tournament will give sweepstakes trophies to the top 3 schools.

We will be giving awards to the top 4 debaters/teams in each event.  A “next out” award will be given to each 5th place competitor in each category.  *Note that since there is no prequal system for KHSSL debate, our students will be competing and thus eligible for awards.*  We will give combined sweepstakes trophies (congress, PF, LD, policy) to the top 3 schools.

ENTRIES

Teams are free to enter an unlimited amount of students in each event.  Only the top three students in each event will count towards sweepstakes.  Each entry will be charged $5 with Public Forum, Policy, Duo Interpretation and Duo Improvisation entry charged $10.

The deadline for entries is December 3rd  at 4:00 PM.  Any drops or adds after this date will be charged a $10 drop fee.

Congress legislation is due to Shellei Price by 4:00 PM on Monday, November 30th.

Please make sure you enter BOTH tournaments on tabroom.

JUDGES

Speech and Congress:  You must provide one judge for every six entries or fraction thereof; 7 entries = 2 judges, etc.  Debate:  You must provide one judge for every two entries or fraction thereof.  Remember, Public Forum, Policy, Duo Interpretation and Improvisational Duo count as one entry in judges needed and as two entries in fees to pay ($5 per kid = $10 per duo entry). You may hire judges you do not provide for $40 apiece. Your judges should be familiar with the KHSSL rules and ballots. We promise to have a delicious hospitality room.  So bribe your parents and volunteers to judge with food and goodies!  We want your judges!
