16^th Annual “Speak the Speech I Pray You” – Classic

The Sudan High School Resonance Speech Team welcomes you to their 16^th annual, “Speak the Speech I Pray You” – Classic. This TFA qualifying tournament features 12 TFA events plus Poetry and Prose.

Students may enter three events in Pattern A and in Pattern B. Debate may only enter debate. Congress may enter 2 events in pattern B. Students may not enter both extemps. We will be using the TFA Spring 2026 Congress docket. Prelims will use items 1-5 (in that docket order) and finals items 6-10.

Handsome trophies will be awarded through 6^th place in each Individual event. Debate will receive trophies through quarters. Three sweepstakes trophies will be awarded (1^st – 3^rd) and a single small school sweepstakes trophy (1A and 2A). All non-TFA member schools are encouraged to read these rules.

Debate rounds will be power matched (high- high) in the 3rd round based on the 1st round results.

Brackets will not be broken in out rounds.

Finals will be paneled. Semis will be paneled only if the supply of judges allows.

Schools with a at least one entry in debate will be charged a $50 fee per school if they do not provide at least one debate judge.

Some Sudan HS students may compete, especially in any event that may need a boost in numbers. These local students will compete for IQT points.

Registration payment is expected before the tournament date or the morning of the tournament. Cash or check is acceptable. The growing trend of some coaches (and promoted by some coaches), of asking to receive an invoice after the tournament is unacceptable and puts added work and anxiety on the tournament host.
