Hello, Coach!

The Directorate of the BQCFL, in partnership with the CFL of Rockville Centre and the New York CFL, is pleased to invite you and your team to the annual Interleague Tournament on November 15th! This​ year's Interleague is hosted by ​S​t. Francis Prep, 6100 Francis Lewis Blvd, Fresh Meadows, NY 11365. Please forward this invitation to any coach in the area who may be interested in bringing students!

Events: We will offer ​the following speech events​:Declamation, Dramatic Performance, Duo Interpretation, JV​ andVarsity Extemp, JV ​andVarsity Oral Interpretation, Program​Oral Interpretation​, and Original Oratory. ​There will be 3 preliminary rounds in speech, plus finals.​ We will also offer Congressional Debate.We will offer 2 sessions of Student Congress plus SuperSession​. Pending final registration numbers, we may run multiple sections of finals in any events that warrant it.

Registration: register for the tournament here on tabroom.com​ starting October 15th at 8am. New entries and judges are due by Wednesday,​11/12 at 8pm. Drops and name changes may be conducted until 3:30pm on Friday, 1​1/14, Changes thereafter must be communicated to the Tournament Director via email (wkay@berkeleycarroll.org).You must provide 1 judge for every 5 speakers (or fraction thereof) in Speech and Congress, ​pooled separately (i.e. 2 speech entries and 2 Congress entries would still demand 2 judges: 1 for speech and 1 for Congress).Judges should be adults who are trained to judge the events assigned to them.​ While we will run a judge meeting to orient everyone to the location/set some norms, we expect judges to have baseline competencies in both their events and in Online Balloting via tabroom.com.

Fees: $15 per entry in all events except Duo, which is $30 per entry. If fees impose a burden to your school's participation, communicate with WK (wkay@berkeleycarroll.org and/or BQCFL Treasurer Chip Frodella at bqcfltreasurer@gmail.com.

Topics: Congress legislation can be found here. Extemp topic areas are as follows: Economics, The US Constitution, Global Environmental Issues, International Conflicts and Diplomacy.

Schedule: All participants should arrive at SFP by 9:15AM, and students should congregate in the cafeteria on the basement level. Coaches should check in with the tabroom (Room W105) immediately upon arrival. The opening meeting for judges will begin at 9:15AM sharp in the judge lounge, Room W001D. Breakfast and lunch is provided for judges and coaches.​​ All schematics will blast at 9:​45. All first rounds will begin at ​10AM, and extempers need to be in the prep room (the library) by 9:20 . A full schedule will follow as the tournament draws closer. We anticipate the tournament concluding by 5pm.

Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the students who have advanced to elims. The number of awards will be ​determined by the number of registrants in each event. Team sweepstakes trophies will also be presented.
