Bison Brigade invitational debate tournament - October 18 at Shawnee Mission North High School.

We will host a Saturday-only competition for Open, JV, and Novice.

All three divisions will have 5 rounds on Saturday with no elimination rounds. The novice division will adhere to the Kansas Case list restrictions (full details below).

Sweepstakes plaques will be awarded to the top three schools based on the cumulative record of your best 4 teams, with at least one from each division

Rules and Regulations

1. Prep time will be 8 minutes for all divisions.

2. Entry fees will be $8.00 per team (or whatever you charge).

3. The registration deadline is October 6 at 5:00 pm.

4. Your invoice will reflect the number of entries you have on file at the deadline, or the number who actually compete, whichever is greater. Please keep your numbers up to date!

5. All coaches/sponsors are on standby to judge. If you would like to be placed in our first-line judge pool, please contact us.

6. Any team more than 10 minutes late to a round, through no fault of the tournament, will forfeit the round.

7. Extras will be awarded sparingly and distributed fairly on the week and day of the tournament.

9. We will observe KSHSAA rules. We plan to offer guest wireless access to all competitors and judges.

10. In the Open division, all high school competitors are eligible to enter. The JV division is limited to 1st and 2nd-year debaters only. Novice entries must be first-year debaters.

11. Tabroom.com will be utilized for all tournament functions. Limited paper schedules will be available, but students will be encouraged to use the features of Tabroom.

12. In the Novice division, no evidence may be read that is not in the Novice Packet. The only plan texts that may be read are the original plan texts in the files. We will seek to resolve conflicts in a way that maximizes education and fairness for all competitors. In all disputes regarding this rule, the host manager’s decision will be final.
