Public Forum

NSDA rules and time limits will be used in all speech and debate events. Double entries are allowed this year!!!!!!! All interpretation and public address events are open to double entry. Debate and limited prep events are still single entry!

We will have four prelim rounds in speech competitions and in debate. As long as there are a sufficient number of competitors in the event, there will be a final round.

We will merge HI/ DI and Prose/Poetry if numbers are low.

Registration Fees:

The registration fee will be $10 per student.

Checks are to be made payable to Wheeling Park High School Speech and Debate

Judges:

1 per 5 in speech, or fraction thereof

1 per 2 in debate, or fraction thereof

All judges are expected to stay for the entire tournament and present for all rounds. If any judge leaves the tournament early, without providing a replacement, his/her school will be disqualified from competition. Judges may be moved from one event to another if needed.

Snacks/Lunch:

Snacks will be on sale throughout the day.

Lunch tickets (2 pieces of Pizza, Drink and Snack) will be on sale for $5.

Please have buses drop off students at the ACTIVITIES ENTRANCE. It is clearly marked at the front of the school. Parking for buses is available in the rear of the building.

Getting to Wheeling Park High School

AVOID Boggs Hill/Edgington Lane/ and Park View LANE!

• If you are coming from 70E, get off at exit 2A for U.S 40 toward WV-88 N/Oglebay Pk. Slight right onto US-40 E/National Rd. Continue on National Road passing Edgington Lane and onwards up the hill with Stifel Arts Center on your right. Turn left at Wheeling Park entrance; Kriegers Ln/Sonneborne Rd. There will be a large sign and stone entrance. Then, turn right onto Park View Rd.

• If you are coming from 70W, get off at exit 5 Elm Grove/ Triadelphia. Turn left on to National Road. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Elm Grove/Bethlehem. Continue to US-40 W/National Rd. Turn right at Wheeling Park entrance; Kriegers Ln/Sonneborne Rd. There will be a large sign and stone entrance. Then, turn right onto Park View Rd.
