San Angelo Central Bobcat Bonanza Swing TFA NIETOC
2025 — San Angelo, TX/US
Greetings everyone,
We are excited to welcome you to the Bobcat Bonanza Swing Tournament hosted by San Angelo Central FULLY IN PERSON! We hope to bring you a great weekend of competition and learning for your students in the year 2025 in San Angelo, TX! We are ecstatic to offer a full swing this year with all events! The exception will be Policy Debate and World Schools Debate being offered only on the Orange side of the tournament on Saturday. The tournament starting on Fridaywill be considered Blue while the tournament starting on Saturday will be referred to asOrange.
The ORANGE SIDE (starting on Saturday) is a NIETOC Bid Tournament in all IES! This is due to NIETOC's new rule about not being a bid on both sides of swings.
We will offer the following IE events: DX, FX, DI, HI, POI, Duet, Duo, INFO, OO, Prose, Poetry, and Impromptu (perfect for Novices!!). Each competitor can enter in BOTH SIDES of the tournament on these events!!
We will offer the following Debate Events on BOTH SIDES of the tournament as well: Congressional Debate, LD, and PF. Due to scheduling and wanting to run the tournament as smoothly as possible, students are NOT allowed to Cross Enter in IEs if entered in LD, PF, CX, or WSD on that side of the swing. They CAN cross enter in one event in Pattern B on the same side (including extemp) if entered in Congress. They will be cross entered at their own risk.
-STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO WEAR COSTUMES (WITH COACH"S APPROVAL)
-There will be a costume contest-
For DEBATE WE WILL USE THE NOVEMBER TOPICS FOR LD AND PF ON BOTH DAYS.
ALL TOPICS AND LEGISLATION ARE UNDER EVENT DESCRIPTIONS ON THE RIGHT.
We will break brackets where applicable.
Regarding judges, we've decided NOT to assign fees for judging. We know many budgets are precarious right now and want to be generous to you all; but PLEASE do your best to cover your entries. We are trying to recruit volunteer judges but there's no way we will be able to make this work without your commitment to help. Therefore, I thank you in advance for us all working together to make this the best tournament possible for all of our awesome kids!!
Teams will be spread out in the cafeteria. We will have a concession stand and food trucks there for meals. There are plenty restaurants around the campus as well!
Posted under "Tournament Pages and Forms” on the right of this main page is our schedule, the cross entry rules, our awesome website about our team, info on checks, and the Congress Legislation we will be using. Please let us know if you have any questions at all! We look forward to seeing you all in person!
Cross Entries: Each Student can enter in 3 events per Pattern. There is NO CROSS ENTERING between LD/PF/CX and IEs on the same side of the swing. A Student CAN Cross enter in Congress and one event in Pattern B (including extemp). A Student can only enter one type of Extemp.
