STATE QUALS SPEECH and LD/Policy

Arroyo High School on Friday, Feb 25th --LD and Policy

Montebello High School on Saturday, Feb 26th--All CHSSA speech events

FOUR-YEAR SENIORS will be recognized at State Quals by the coaches of their teams

COACH REQUIREMENT: 

IF You, the coach of record, are NOT going to be attending the tournament, you must send either an employee representing your school and have them check in your team at the beginning of the tournament.

IF You, the coach of record, are sending a volunteer and/or parent to care for your team.  You MUST have a letter from your school, signed by your principal indicating the person you are sending is the official "chaperone" of your team for the day.  The letter must be turned in to the tournament director prior to the beginning of the tournament.   Failure to do so may result in your student not being allowed to compete

WHOMEVER you put in charge of your team should have the student emergency medical forms / permission slips / parent contact forms for your team.  Protect your students, yourself and your "representative"

Where: Arroyo (Friday)

Events: LD and Policy Debate

Students may enter one debate event and 2 speech events

Students can NOT double enter in both extemps

When: Saturday, February 26

Where: Montebello High School

Events: All California Speech Events plus out rounds of LD and Policy Debate

Students may enter one debate event and 2 speech events

Students can NOT double enter in both extemps 

Entries:

- Initial Entries are due to the Tabroom website by 5pm on Monday, Feb 21.

Judges:  Judges Requirement TBA. 
 

Fees: $10 per entry ($20- for DUO/POLICY) these will be billed after this tournament.

Eligibility: In order to be eligible for competition schools must have:

1. Paid their CHSSA FEES

2. Paid their SCDL FALL BILL

3. Paid their $50 league dues (first year programs exempt)

4. Competed at Spring Varsity, or in the Varsity division at Spring Debate -

Lincoln-Douglas Debate – 2022 Jan/Feb Topic   

Policy Debate – 2021-2022 Topic

LD/Policy RD 1: 4pm

debate rounds will run as fast as possible.   Each round power matched & single flighted (if possible)

Goal is to run 2-3 rounds of policy and 3-4 rounds of LD.

out rounds will continue on Saturday @ Montebello

Saturday

8am 1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - RD 1

9:45: 1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - RD 2

11:30am: 1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - RD 3

1:45pm: 1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - Semis

3:45pm: 1st speaker begins speaking in all speech rounds - Finals
