Student Division Eligibility
In parli, a novice is a first year debater. Once a team has 5 winning rounds, they are bumped up to intermediate.
For high school, a student with no debate experience may enter novice.
A high school student with one year of MS debate experience (any event) or a year of high school experience must enter the Intermediate division. Any MS experience, no matter how many years, counts as one year in factoring eligibility.
Any student with more than 2 years of any debate experience must be entered in the varsity division.
Division level defaults to the most experienced team member. If you have a varsity student paired with a first year novice, they must debate varsity.
