SWAT would like to invite you to a 2-day tournament on March 12-13 at the 

International Pentecostal Church of Christ, 2343 U. S. 42, London, Ohio 43140.

Debate:

There will be 6 preliminary rounds, 1 hidden semi-final, and 1 final round.

 

For this tournament, we will calculate the debate results with the online software program, Tabroom.com. The program allows the judges to complete and submit their ballots online. You will need to use a smartphone or laptop to submit results (we will have extra PCs set up in the judge quiet room for your use, if needed). Paper ballots will be available upon request. In a follow up email, we will send the link for debate judge registration and instructions on registering on tabroom.com. Judges may register up to the day of the tournament.

 

Speech Categories:

 

          Junior: Prose

          Junior Varsity: Prose, Informative

          Varsity*: Prose, Humorous Interpretive

                        Persuasive, Informative

                        Impromptu, EA, News Analysis 

  *All Varsity events must have a minimum of 4 competitors to run

          Sweeps

 

Speech events will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. If an event is full, your student will be put on a waiting list. If a space opens up, we will contact you by Monday, March 8.

 

Health Policy

We ask that families assess their symptoms prior to arriving at the tournament.   If anyone is experiencing fever, chills, loss of taste/smell, nausea or vomiting, please do NOT come to the tournament. 

 

Registration 

                     Registration Closes on Monday, March 1st, 7pm.

         

Fees for debate students will be approximately $30. Fees for speech students will be approximately $10 for the first event with an additional $5 for the 2nd and 3rd event. 

         

We will send your bill via Paypal after registration closes.

The link for debate judge registration will come in a follow up email.

 

We will be relying heavily on parent judges. If you are able to bring an additional judge or two, it would be much appreciated and will help ease the load on parents.

 

Food

Please bring enough food and drink for both days. There are a few restaurants within 5-10 minutes of the tournament.

 

Hotels

Springfield- there are hotels at the Rt 72 Springfield/Cedarville exit.

London- there is one hotel at the US 42 toward Plain City exit.

Hillard (Columbus)- there are hotels at the Hilliard-Rome Rd exit.
