Eau Claire North Forensics Tournament Steve Sparks Memorial

2021 — Eau Claire, WI/US

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2021 Eau Claire North - Steve Sparks Memorial Tournament. The virtual world has brought us together and provided us with a chance to have our students, judges, and coaches come together from all over Wisconsin for our beloved activity of forensics.

Awards will be live-streamed from the North High Auditorium Saturday at 10:00 AM. Some of our team is getting together (distanced & masked) in the audience to watch the awards. If your team is meeting for a watch-party, let us know and we'll send you a different link so that your group can be featured in our awards if you have a device with a camera set up.

The public (view-only) link to the awards is:

Thanks again, and we'll hopefully see you for real on February 12, 2022.

Judges should login to tabroom.com to verify their judging assignment or the lack of one.

A reminder that the judging guide linked here has the links to the rules and deviations used in this tournament:

EAU CLAIRE NORTH TOURNAMENT UPDATE THURSDAY 10:00 AM

The tournament is off to a good start with only a few minor problems, usually video links which we have been fixing. No judge has brought forward any issues of students not following the rules of a category or anything else that might be questionable, and that reflects well upon all of the coaches and students.

PRELIMINARY ROUND JUDGING ENDS TONIGHT at 9:00 PM:

Writing good critiques take time, but here's some good news: The deadline is for ranking, not critiques. We need the ranks of each round in order to set up the final rounds, but you can continue to finish writing the critiques after the deadline (actually anytime before the end of the tournament, but still the sooner the better).

FINAL ROUND:

The top entries in each category will advance to the final round to compete against each other with three judges. As soon as possible after the 9:00 PM deadline tonight, the judging assignments will be released. In order to set up the final rounds and have a timely release, we need everyone to get their preliminary round ranks in on time. Final round judging is due Saturday at 7:00 AM. Once again, we need the ranks by 7:00 AM, but critiques can be finished up until 10:00 AM.

NOVICE AWARDS:

We have awards for the best novices, which are students in their first year of high school forensics. If they have middle school experience, they can still be a high school novice.

Coaches, we need to know who your novices are. Once you are logged in to Tabroom, click on your email address at the top of the window, and it should come up with your school and tabbed options named Tournaments, Competitors, Judges, Circuits, etc. Click Competitors and you will see the Novice column. Check first to make sure there are no Novice designations turned on that may have carried over from a previous year for your returning students. Then mark all your new students.

Novice designations can be added anytime up until 7:00 AM Saturday, which is when we will be preparing the awards based on information available then.
