You're invited to the City Classic beginning January 24th, 2020 at 4:30pm concluding January 25th by 6pm.

Please note one significant change from previous years -- all ballots will be done online through Tabroom! Please let me know if you or your judges have any questions about how to create accounts or link to judges.

Three features of the Classic you've come to expect:

First, we use February LD and PF topics ahead of NSDA Districts Debate and offer both NSDA and IHSSA speech events with a double-entry IE pattern that provides an excellent opportunity for speakers to perform ahead of IHSSA District Speech and NSDA District Speech tournaments held in February 2020.  We will do our best to accommodate as many speakers and events as possible, but please note that low-entry events may need to be combined with other similar events; or, if events are underpopulated, they may be cancelled. 

Second, Tower Trophies!!  These trophies are based on the famous City High Tower.  Architectural Digest voted City High's campus the "Most Beautiful in Iowa" in 2017, in large part due to the tower.  Built in the 1940's, City High's tower was modeled on the State of Iowa's original Old Capitol tower, and is an iconic part of our east side cityscape. After much positive feedback regarding personally engraved trophies we will continue to send them to winners after the tournament concludes.

Third, City High debate parents will provide a fantastic Friday dinner for coaches and judges, and will offer a fully stocked lounge area throughout the day on Saturday.
