GWA Fall Opener

Welcome schools of Morocco! You are invited to the 2019 “GWA Fall Opener.” The tournament will be held on November 22nd and 23rd. Debate rounds will begin at 5:00pm on Friday and 9:00am on Saturday. Both 6th-8th graders and 9th-12th grade are invited to compete. We will run MS and HS events simultaneously.

Debate: (Resolutions will be used for MS and HS)

Lincoln Douglas: Resolved: The United States ought to eliminate subsidies for fossil fuels

Public Forum: Resolved: The benefits of the United States federal government’s use of offensive cyber operations outweigh the harms.

Individual Events:

Humorous Interpretation

Dramatic Interpretation (If low turnout, then will be combined with HI)

Duo Interpretation

POI (Programed Oral Interpretation)

OO(Original Oratory)

Informative Speaking (If low turnout, then will be combined with OO)

Extemporaneous Speaking

Tournament Fee

There will be a reasonable fee to cover the costs of ribbons, medals, and trophies. As well as refreshments for the hospitality room. I will get back to everyone with the specific number when I hear back about trophy costs.

Event Signups

Please sign your students up via Tabroom by November 16th with drops no later than the 19th. Each student may compete in 1 debate event and 2 IEs.
