Speech & Debate Summer Mini Workshop at La Reina HS
June 17 – June 22, 2019
As part of the La Reina Summer School the La Reina Debate Team hosts a one week mini workshop on a variety of debate formats culminating in a tournament on Saturday, June 22 at La Reina. The program will cover Public Forum, Parliamentary, Lincoln Douglas and Policy style debate formats for both Middle School and High School students.
Novice and intermediate students are welcome. The class during the week meets from 12:45 pm to 3:15pm.
Speech teaches basic skills and techniques that help students become more effective communicators both as listeners and as presenters. The course includes research methods, evidence use, editing skills and delivery techniques for persuasive speeches. Debate will focus on the basic principles of interscholastic competitive policy (team) debate while developing effective basic communication skills and argumentation strategies.
Cost $200 including the Workshop Tournament on Saturday, June 22 during the day at La Reina
